Vector System Combat Method
向量 系統 拳術

I strive to make Wing Chun a method that can work "right out of the gate", but also has a depth that allows you to train it for years while continuously making new discoveries.

I have had the privilege of teaching and training with some of the best in their fields, such as Wing Chun, martial arts, combatives, defensive tactics, teaching, human movement, and physical therapy.

These people have helped me to understand what I do better and also helped refined my ability to pass on what I do more efficiently. Combining this with my training, experience, and science and engineering background led to the development of my approach to applying and teaching Wing Chun.

My approach focuses on practical application with better mechanics and easier understanding. It is comprised of two main concepts

 - Concentrated Wing Chun
 - Martial Engineering

Concentrated Wing ChuN
集中 詠春

Here we focus on what Wing Chun was meant to do. Move fluidly and effectively in a combative environment. We use many traditional methodologies to train proper technique. But, we also integrate modern modalities that serve to boost our understanding and application.

We use a condensed set of forms that differ from the traditional forms you'll find in Yip Man Wing Chun. Our forms retain the core idea of cataloging the techniques, concepts, and principles while removing unnecessary repetition and delays in learning.

This limits the burden of rote memorization, giving more time to train the primary focus of application.

Martial Engineering

I classify my approach as "martial engineering" instead of martial arts. Art is driven by the fashions of the time. Art is subjective. Art is nebulous. Art is "in the eye of the beholder". While art allows for many interpretations, it is too abstract to define into a cohesive unit.

Engineering, on the other hand, is definable, measurable, and built on well established principles. It has the same capacity for variation as art, yet is built on common, fundamental concepts and first principles that ALL things must obey.

Our martial engineering approach focuses on:
- Core principles
- Simple definitions
- Direct explanations
- Effective demonstrations
